Profiles

Harav Chaim Kohn

Harav Chaim Kohn is the founder of the Mechon L’Choshen Mishpat/Business Halacha Institute and dean of Bais Hora’ah Eitz Chaim. He authored Hilchos Mishpat, an erudite sefer based on Choshen Mishpat. His insightful lectures and numerous published articles covering all areas of halacha continue to educate and inspire. Harav Kohn’s halachic guidance is frequently sought by Jews throughout the world.

Harav Kohn learned in yeshivos in Europe and in Eretz Yisrael under Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, zt“l. He served as Rosh Yeshivah for several yeshivos, and currently also serves as a dayan for Kahal Adas Yeshurun (Breuer’s) of Washington Heights.

 

Rabbi Zev Cohen

Rabbi Zev Cohen is currently the Rav of Congregation Adas Yeshurun of Chicago, where he has spearheaded numerous Torah projects in the flourishing community for over 20 years. He also serves as the Rosh Kollel for Choshen Mishpat Kollel of Chicago. Rabbi Cohen lectures extensively on a wide range of topics.

Rabbi Cohen maintains a close kesher with his Rosh Yeshivah, Harav Yitzchok Feigelstock, shlita, of Mesivta of Long Beach, where he was sent to learn at the age of thirteen. He was also privileged to learn in Lakewood’s Beth Medrash Govoha, under the tutelage of Torah giants such as Harav Shneur Kotler, zt”l and Harav Nosson Wachtfogel, zt”l . Shortly after his marriage, he moved to Chicago, where he helped establish the Chicago Community Kollel and served as a rebbi in Skokie Yeshiva.

Rabbi Dovid Schoen

Rabbi David Schoen currently serves as Rosh Kollel of Kollel Choshen Mishpat in Miami, dean of the Center for Jewish Ethics, and dayan for the Beis Din of South Florida. He frequently lectures to a wide-range of audiences in South Florida, including forums for lawyers, business owners, doctors and university students. In addition, he delivers shiurim and regular chaburos to Bnei Torah and laymen.

Rabbi Schoen grew up in Los Angeles, and learned under Harav Simcha Wasserman, zt”l, and then from Harav Dov Shwartzman, zt”l in Eretz Yisroel.

Branches

Kollelim

.BHI's kollelim train young men to qualify as choshen mishpat dayanim. An intense full-time study program is supplemented with the type of real-life case studies that are often presented to BHI 

There are currently three kollel locations in the United States with Batei Din/Batei Hora'ah, Flatbush, Chicago & Miami.
